Tania Johnson Design Reflected Light Collection of Rugs

Tania Johnson Design Reflected Light Collection of rugs consists of four striking designs will in which founder and designer Tania Johnson continues with her exploration of natural light and shadows. Each made-to-order piece combines wool and silk fibers in vibrant contrasts of color to create an interplay between matte and shine. Different shades of color are mixed in a single knot to achieve the intricate gradations.

Each rug is hand knotted in Nepal and is produced in the company’s low 3mm pile height at 150 knots per inch.

Trove StoneGround Wallpaper

Trove StoneGround is a silky-smooth wall"paper" made from stone. Stoneground wall"paper" combines mineral powder (> 80% calcium carbonate) with a small amount (< 20% PE) of non-toxic resin to create an environmentally-friendly wall"paper" unlike any other.

StoneGround production process uses no wood products, meaning not a single tree has been cut down for its sake. It requires no water to produce, safeguarding the environment from additional wastewater pollutants. Thanks to StoneGround‘s fiberless make-up, printed images stay crisp and clean. Adding to its eco-friendly appeal, StoneGround requires 20-30% less ink than regular paper.

To create StoneGround, calcium carbonate, which is found in marble and limestone, is ground down into a fine, chalk-like powder that is sprayed onto a non-toxic resin base where it binds to create the "paper." Its construction refines previously coarse and raw materials to create a more delicate feel than paper, yet more durable than paper because it is water and tear resistant. At the end of its life, StoneGround can be recycled.

Recycled Sandpiper Night Light

Bring light to the devastating effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill with this fundraising night light. Husband and wife team Vawn and Mike Gray designed this token as an artistic call to action in partnership with UncommonGoods. Ten percent of the proceeds from each Sandpiper night light and Pelican night light benefit Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research.

Fused from post-consumer glass bottles rescued before reaching the landfill, each handmade night light is kiln formed in Florida.

Fueled by a tireless team of on-call biologists, veterinarians, chemists and volunteers, Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research has been rehabilitating injured, orphaned and oiled wildlife since 1976.

Due to the handmade and recycled nature of these items, each is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly.

GE Nucleus Home Energy Manager

GE Nucleus Energy Manager is an affordable, innovative communication and data storage device that provides consumers with secure information about their household electricity use and costs so they can make more informed choices about how and when to use power.

GE's Nucleus brings the promise of the smart grid into consumers' homes. As utilities deploy smart meters, the Nucleus will collect and store a consumer's household electricity use and cost data for up to three years, and present it to consumers in real-time using simple, intuitive PC and smart phone applications, helping consumers monitor and control their energy use.

Nucleus is the first product in GE's Brillion suite of smart home energy management solutions that will help consumers control their energy use and costs. In addition to Nucleus, GE's Brillion suite will include a programmable thermostat, in-home display, a smart phone application, and smart appliances for the entire home.

By 2012, US utilities are expected to install more than 40 million smart meters. These digital meters enable utilities to charge “time-of-use” rates for electricity throughout the day. When demand is low, electricity will cost less, and when demand is at its “peak,” utilities will charge more to encourage off-peak consumption.

With these new pricing plans, however, comes the need for innovative technologies to help consumers manage their usage. Along with monitoring their whole-home energy consumption, consumers will have the option to automatically adjust thermostats or alter the consumption of GE Profile appliances with Brillion Technology in response to utility price signals.

Future Brillion options will also include alerts to assist consumers with daily tasks, such as when to change the refrigerator's water filter or when the dryer cycle ends. Software upgrades will further enable Nucleus to monitor water, natural gas, and renewable energy sources, as well as plug-in electric vehicle charging.

Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Walker Zanger Waterfall Collection of mosaic tiles is crafted of honed slate and iridescent marbleized glass. Available in a multitude of elegant mosaic formats and colors, the Waterfall Collection imparts an organic feeling of luxury to any room it graces.

The Brasilia wallpaper collection from Wallquest, Inc. is a luxurious take on organically inspired patterns. Drawing inspiration from leaves, grasses, tree bark and other natural elements, these papers are designed as Eco Chic by Wallquest. The process begins with carefully selected paper from suppliers who use pulp from well-managed, renewable resource forests or recycled sources. The production processes rely solely on solvent-free, water based inks. Any water used during production is professionally filtered and cleaned before it is returned to the environment.

The rich textures found in nature are reproduced through the use of special inks that raise the surface of the patterns for an embossed or etched texture and, combined with layers of metallic ink, create a juxtaposition of the natural with the opulent.
