LifeGuard impact-resistant windows and patio doors from Weather Shield Windows & Doors offer coastal residents and their homes stylish, full-time protection from wind-borne debris. Now available with Zo-e-shield Coastal glazing system, homeowners can get the best in protection and energy efficiency with LifeGuard IG.
LifeGuard derives its durability and protection from a highly resilient laminate of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) that is fused between two panes of glass. Unlike normal glazing, LifeGuard windows and doors with this heavy-gauge PVB interlayer resist breakage by the force of wind-borne debris. This protects homeowners, their homes and their contents from the powerful inverse pressure created during violent storms. In addition, this laminated glass also minimizes sound transmittance, UV fading and security threats.
For the ultimate in energy efficiency and protection, Weather Shield now offers Zo-e-shield Coastal on LifeGuard IG products. Zo-e-shield uses a proprietary combination of components, Low-E coatings and inert gas to achieve U-factors and solar heat gain coefficients significantly more efficient than those of standard insulated glass. A Real Warm Edge Spacer system helps minimize condensation on the glass and heat/cold transference through the unit. The EasyCare exterior coating helps the window stay cleaner longer and makes the cleaning task easier when it becomes necessary. LifeGuard IG products have been tested in accordance with ASTM E1886 and E1996 as referenced in the International Building Code and the International Residential Code.
All LifeGuard single-glazed products have been tested to the requirements of the Florida Product Approval, the Miami-Dade County Protocol TAS201, TAS202 and TAS203 as well as the ASTM E1886 test method and ASTM E1996 standard specification.
LifeGuard products have durable extruded aluminum-clad exteriors that can be prefinished in one of the 55 Accentials standard or designer colors, any custom color, or one of eight anodized aluminum finishes for a customized look. The painted finishes, which provide superior resistance to salt spray and industrial pollutants, meet AAMA 2605 requirements.
Homeowners have a choice of interiors on LifeGuard Windows & Doors to accentuate their home’s interior décor. Interiors can be prefinished in an Accentials or custom color. Additionally, the Custom Wood Interiors Collection offers six species approved for LifeGuard products: pine, maple, mahogany, cherry, oak and American fir.
Optional Simulated Divided Lites (SDL), airspace grilles or removable perimeter grilles in standard or custom patterns add distinction to any LifeGuard product.
LifeGuard products include casement, awning, double-hung tilt and direct-set windows that have been reinforced for increased durability yet maintain beautiful aesthetics.
The casement units have seacoast, corrosion-resistant hardware, including concealed, hinged arm operators that provide smooth operation.
