Maximum window strength is important in severe weather because a broken window or door can affect a home’s structural integrity. Positive and negative air pressure caused by a storm can cause serious damage, and if a window or door breaks, that pressure can literally destroy the entire structure.

ImpactGard protection helps prevent this by resisting impacts from wind-borne debris and keeping windows sealed and intact during storms. Windows with ImpactGard protection can withstand a nine-pound 2x4 board traveling at 34 miles per hour. Hy-Lite StormBlocker acrylic block windows have been independently tested in accordance with Miami-Dade County testing requirements to help resist storm-force winds and rain. During the testing, the acrylic block windows met the testing requirements of Miami-Dade County in relationship to Florida’s impact, water infiltration and extreme internal/external air pressure tests.

Available in six window sizes, the fixed Hy-Lite StormBlocker windows feature a polycarbonate reinforced core and high-strength aluminum frame, allowing the acrylic block windows to help resist storm-force winds and rain. The Drop-down system features a seven-inch monitor and comes with one, but can support two, recessed or surface-mount cameras for monitoring the front and back doors.
